WHERE DO I GO? 08.04.23…
I wrote this song with many things on my mind. I had just been sent home from The Voice, after an incredible run that I’m really proud of and thankful to be given a platform on a national stage. Then, I remember talking to my mom, asking her about what it was like when they were given the news that I am deaf. She said after many doctors appointments and meetings; tears and fear…she just asked out loud, “Okay Lord, where do I go from here?”
I thank God every day for guiding my parents down the path they did to get me to where I am now.
So now, here I am, living my life proudly as a deaf person who lives and breathes for the music I am so passionate about. Not a thing and no one can stop me from doing what some may deem as impossible.
Then, I get the call that I’m going to be on The Voice. The show that changed my life for the better. I was introduced to so many beautiful people and was inspired daily by their talents and passion for their craft. I get to call them my friends for a lifetime now!
But as it all came to end, I think I speak on behalf of all my fellow artists from the show, we asked ourselves at one point, “Okay…What now Universe? What not God? Where do we go from here?”
It’s a blessing to say we have each other now to lift up one another when the unpredictable journey of a music becomes unclear.
I wrote this song for everyone though. Not just a musician. Not just a deaf person. Everyone. Sometimes we wonder what to do in situations where we are so desperate for an answer. It can be frustrating. But I’m here to tell you, there is always a way.
I cannot thank you enough for the love and support everyone has given to me since my time on the show. I also dedicate my appreciation to everyone in my life even before the show. My family, my best friend. Everyone! My hometown of Walnut. My friends I made on the show. My supporters. I thank you. I sing for you, ALWAYS.
Although it’s an end of an era, and I’m starting to take a step forward, this is just the beginning to a beautiful journey that I hope you’ll allow me to share with you!
This is for you. I sing for you.🤍🤟🏼

i wrote this song to somehow explain how it feels sometimes to be a deaf person that is almost always in spaces full of hearing people. being a deaf musician is especially challenging sometimes because sometimes the rooms i'm in are full of super talented people but they're fully hearing. and sometimes, when you're a standout, you try your best to blend in and be like them. you don't want to be an inconvenience or a burden. i don't feel like this all the time, but when I do, it can be exhausting. so i wrote a song about it. :)

I didn’t get to play guitar on the show, and I almost did! Kelly Clarkson was actually shocked when she heard I knew how to play, haha. I wish they aired that! It was a wholesome moment. I’m honored I even got to sing at all, for as much as I did. However, I feel most at home when it’s just me and my guitar. So here’s a song by my biggest inspiration, Tori Kelly. Thank you guys for letting me sing for you! I promise it’ll never stop, and this is just the beginning. 🧡🤟🏼 #TheVoice #fyp #cover #torikelly #whereibelong #deaf @tori kelly
