I can tell that this book is gonna be so much more than a heartbreaking story about a family that finds out their little girl has cancer. The first chapter was done and dusted so fast. I got this on my door an hour ago from posting this, and I caught myself saying you know what? I will go ahead and lay it down, but Joa being Joa, I opened it and started reading, and once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down until my husband came through the door again and told me we got a wash your hands because I was doing some construction stuff in my office and I got my hands nasty no harm happened to the book. Nevertheless, today's chaotic post is to celebrate Latine Heritage Month by showing off this book that I know will be amazing, and I can’t wait to finish. 🌙✨ Day 8 of Celebrating Latine Heritage Month! ✨🌙

Hey TikTok fam, it's day eight of my Latine Heritage Month celebration, and today I want to shine a spotlight on an incredible author that I truly admire. This author's writing style is absolutely captivating, with a touch of darkness that makes their work so uniquely theirs. And without further ado, let's talk about Sylvia Moreno-Garcia and her masterpiece, "Certain Dark Things"!

This book, my friends, left me completely mesmerized from the very first page. It served as my introduction to the talented Sylvia Moreno-Garcia, and I was instantly hooked. "Certain Dark Things" takes us on a thrilling journey where a basurero (garbage collector) and a vampire with Aztec lineage cross paths in a dystopian Mexico City.

The vampire, coming from a rich lineage, finds herself caught in a dangerous web of narco vampires who are relentlessly hunting her down. Meanwhile, the basurero is simply trying to make ends meet. But their paths intertwine, and the question arises: should the vampire keep this guy around when everyone who has tried to help her ends up dead?

Let me tell you, this book is pure dystopian noir brilliance! The author paints a malevolent and haunting picture of a Mexico City plagued by corruption, narcos, and vampires. The atmosphere she creates is so vivid, so dark, that it's impossible to put the book down. I was completely engrossed!

Sylvia Moreno-Garcia's talent for crafting such a dystopian world filled with intricate characters is truly awe-inspiring. This is just the beginning of my journey with her as an author, and I can't wait to dive into more of her captivating books.

So, my fellow bookworms, if you're craving a thrilling, atmospheric read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, "Certain Dark Things" is an absolute must-read! Trust me, you won't be able to resist the allure of Sylvia Moreno-Garcia's unique writing style and the captivating world she has created.

Let's continue celebrating Latine heritage by supporting incredible Latinx authors like Sylvia Moreno-Garcia. 🌟 Celebrating Latine Heritage Month Day 5! 🌟

Today, I am shining a spotlight on another incredible Latine author and her middle grade series. Middle grade books are SO important, and if you haven't checked out my previous TikTok video, make sure you do to understand why I think they're so essential! But let's dive into today's highlight: the Merci Suarez series by Meg Medina. 📚

This series holds a special place in my heart because not only is the main character, Merci, a girl with a lazy eye just like me, but she also goes through similar struggles that I faced in school because of it. 💔 But what truly makes this series remarkable is the relatable family dynamics. The author, Meg Medina, brilliantly portrays a Latine family that isn't well-off and faces the everyday struggles that many immigrant families go through. 💪 They may get mad at each other, face financial difficulties, but ultimately, they come together with love and resilience to overcome any obstacles in their family life.

This series is a beautiful representation of a Latine family and showcases their wholesomeness. 🙌 I genuinely wish that more people would read these books and gain empathy and understanding for kids who may look different or come from non-native backgrounds. Merci's story is a reminder that we are all trying to make the best of our lives, regardless of where we come from. 🌎 Let's embrace diversity and support stories like these that shed light on the experiences of immigrant families.

So, grab a copy of the Merci Suarez series by Meg Medina and let's dive into a world filled with relatability, love, and the power of unity. Together, let's celebrate the richness of Latine heritage and foster empathy and understanding in our hearts. 💃📖✨

🌍 Embracing Heritage during Latine Heritage Month🌿

Hey TikTok fam, gather around for a story time📚✨ Today, I want to share a personal experience that shaped my perspective on embracing my heritage during Latine Heritage Month.

Picture this: a young version of me, living in the vibrant streets of Brooklyn, alongside my amazing auntie and uncle. 💃🏽🗽 I was caught in the crossroads of assimilation and preserving my cultural roots. In my eagerness to fit in, I made a statement to my auntie, confessing my desire to abandon Spanish and solely speak English. 😔

But oh, how grateful I am for my auntie's wisdom and guidance! In a transformative moment, she spoke words that forever changed my outlook on language and cultural identity. She reminded me that Spanish, our beautiful language, holds immense value, and that being bilingual is a superpower that bridges worlds. 🌎🗣️

That moment was a turning point in my life. It allowed me to embrace my true self, my Dominican heritage, and all the unique qualities that make me who I am. When I immigrated to the United States, I carried with me the richness of my culture, and it's something I cherish deeply. 🇩🇴❤️

So, my friends, in this video, I want to shed light on the struggles that immigrants often face. Many have had to make sacrifices, both willingly and unwillingly, in order to build a life in a foreign land. Instead of pity, let's choose empathy and understanding when we encounter someone who has walked that path. 🤝❤️

Together, let's celebrate diversity and open our hearts to the stories and experiences that shape the beautiful tapestry of our global community. 🌈✨ Remember, it's these shared moments of understanding that can truly change the world. Let's make a difference, one compassionate interaction at a time. 🌟

Tag a friend who needs to hear this powerful message, and let's spread love, acceptance, and cultural appreciation far and wide! 🙌🌍💖
