The Role of Strength Training #1 of 3 – Injury Resilience What is the role of Strength Training? Why do we do it? Or why should we do it? Reason #1 , and arguably the most important reason, is Injury Resilience. It’s a simple one but having athletes available to play week in week out, is the best ability you can give an athlete you’re working with. The best Ability is Availability! By hitting the weights in the gym and targeting identified ‘risk’ areas, we can help mitigate injuries throughout a long and (sometimes) arduous season. The goal should be to build the foundations early in the pre-season, then depending on playing time and level of competition, attenuate decline throughout the in-season period, with the hope to build on the original base the following season. Strength builds resilience. So, get lifting in a planned and periodised way to help bulletproof you for next season. #athlete #youthathlete #athletes #youthathletes #sports #fitness #gym #training #strengthtraining #InjuryResilience #athleteinjury #strength #melbourne #coffsharbour #fyp
