OFFICIALLY HILLY = >1,000 feet of climbing per 10 miles ⛰ Pull that rule out for a 100 mile ride and you have a big day out. I had a couple of target KOM’s including a road almost directly outside my house, and then one 15 miles in, after those efforts it was easy-rider pace for the rest of the loop. Got the 1st, missed the 2nd by 1 sec.

This climb holds a special place in my heart. When I was young, my grandparents would take me up here in their camper van with a fish and chips to eat while looking at the view. I’ve ridden this climb a few times to feel closer to them, but usually without bags. Yesterday I decided that I wanted to beat my PB while fully loaded on my way to Manchester and completely emptied the tank to knock over a whole minute off. Very much feeling like my recovery after the race has settled into a rhythm now.
