Carnevale di Venezia inspired miniatures ♠️♥️⚜️♣️🎭 From Italy 🇮🇹 to Napa!
While I was living in Northern Italy, an hour by train ride, I got to spend quite a bit of time in Venezia. I was fortunate to get to experience Carnevale di Venezia! I was so inspired by the colors, textures and fabrics of the elaborate costumes and artisanal masks, opulent golds and robust jewel tones adorning the mysterious characters of the festival. Such EYE CANDY for an artist’s eyes, I had to go home and paint it! These three pieces are miniatures inspired by the beauty of it all. I don’t paint small very often so when I rediscovered these rare gems packed away in a box on my recent trip back to Italy, I put them in my suitcase and brought them back to Napa with me! They hold a very special place in my heart ♥️ #madeinitaly

A live painting duet with Jazz Musician Brian Culbertson, who put the final brushstrokes on the painting! After making his signature marks (the four green strokes on the canvas) he told me that those quintessential marks are in all of his own paintings and that they represent “time and moving forward.” @brianculbertsonmusic
