Things Oz The Canon of Oz
Wicked Review

OZ, as should be obvious, served as the inspiration for this site.

Many people don't realize that the Oz books comprise a series of books by multiple authors (rather than the one well known book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz). L. Frank Baum began the series in 1899 with artistic and financial acclaim and later wrote thirteen more books before his death. Ruth Plumly Thompson carried the title of Royal Historian of Oz from that point. For a complete list of the classic Oz authors and their books, follow this yellow brick road of sorts.

In addition to the miscellaneous information offered here, please also take a glance at Scott's review of Wicked, a contemporary novel that puts Oz in an entirely new light. Thanks to Andy Kim for the recommendation.

Scott collects OZ books and has for the past ten or twelve years been buying the reprints put out by Books of Wonder.

Books of Wonder (Peter Glassman) has been publishing the Oz novels slowly but steadily over the course of the last ten years starting in 1987 with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

These books are faithful reproductions of the original editions of the Oz books, keeping alive the rare craftsmanship and attention to detail that distinguishes the series.

To date Books of Wonder has published nine Oz books by L. Frank Baum, as well as his Little Wizard Stories of Oz, all four Oz books by John R. Neill, both books by Jack Snow and one by award-winner Eloise Jarvis McGraw and her daughter, Lauren McGraw. Additionally Peter Glassman has published Sea Fairies, Sky Island and Dot and Tot of Merryland by Baum (not Oz books), as well as more than 10 new Oz novels by contemporary authors.
